Willing Hands and Open Hearts:
Weaving Our Stories Together
Fall Retreat Overview
September 25 - 27, 2026
What if learning to weave became a way of listening to your own life?
That is what this year's retreat is all about … slowing down, creating with our hands and discovering the many ways God is weaving us into one another's lives. In the process, you will also weave beautiful baskets. The act of weaving creates a space to share our stories and realize how we are all connected —woven together in lots of different ways.
No weaving experience needed … just willing hands and heart.
Kaila Russell, Retreat Leader
Every Story Matters
Our retreat leader, Kaila Russell, has been weaving baskets and weaving stories for the past 33 years. After searching for a way to share her life stories and
faith journey with others, she took a basket weaving class for teachers. Her life has never been the same. Using baskets as a tool, she helps the weaver connect the process of weaving to life’s journey, paying attention to the many life lessons along the way.
Weaving a basket is a perfect way to connect an ordinary vessel with a powerful story…your story! Kaila believes that as we share our stories, it empowers others to share their story and every story matters!
