Children and Families
We Welcome Children in Worship at Alki UCC.
Worship is one of the primary ways that we learn what it means to be a person of faith. Children learn to worship by worshipping with the whole congregation.
When children are included in worship, they receive the message that they are loved and valued both by God and the people of God at Church.
Children model to adults what absolute joy and uninhibited relationship with God looks like.
What can you do to support your children in worship?
- Sit near the front where children can have a clear view of the sanctuary.
- Utilize the children’s bulletins and coloring materials for your child’s response to what they hear and experience in worship.
- For school-aged children, follow along in the bulletin together.
- Guide children in leadership roles such as lighting the candles and collecting the offering.
Bringing children to worship is not always easy, but it is an essential part of their growth in the life of faith.
The Body of Christ assembled is incomplete in their absence. We need children in worship!

Godly Play
Have you longed for a spiritual practice to meet the needs of your progressive family? Come and experience Godly Play at Alki United Church of Christ!
The Godly Play® method is a curriculum of spiritual practice exploring the mystery of God’s presence in our lives. Godly Play practice teaches us to listen for God and to make authentic and creative responses to God’s call in our lives. It is based on the knowledge that children are already spiritual beings. In Godly Play, all are invited to wonder.
Godly Play is a creative, imaginative approach to Christian formation and spiritual guidance.
Godly Play values process, openness, discovery, community and relationships.
Godly Play at Alki UCC is for kids ages 3-12 and their caregivers. Children and adults explore spirituality alongside one another in our circle.
