STEWARDSHIP

About six years ago, in late 2019, the Alki UCC community stood at a crossroads. Our longtime pastor had retired, and we asked deep questions about who we were — and who we wanted to become. Through a beautiful process of house meetings, where small groups of six to eight gathered in leaders’ homes, we listened, dreamed and discerned together. With nearly every member participating, a clear vision emerged: we imagined a vibrant church with rich music and children’s programs, a welcoming space for multi-faith and 12-Step gatherings, and a renewed sense of purpose as a true community center.

We were energized, hopeful, and ready to call a new pastor to help guide us forward. Then the pandemic hit. Suddenly, everything paused. But not our spirit!

Despite those uncertainties, we adapted. In December 2022, with resilience and grace, we called Pastor Emily Tanis-Likkel as our designated three-quarter-time pastor and continued the work of becoming the community we envisioned. We now see signs of our dreams becoming reality. The groundwork for our future is being laid out and YOU are a vital part of it.

Stepping Up Together: Closing the Gap

This season of stewardship is our annual opportunity to commit to sustaining this beloved community. As a self-governed and self-funded church, our future depends entirely on our shared vision and financial commitments.

In the past several weeks, you have heard stories of where we’ve come from, where we are now, and where we’re going together. These reflections remind us of the legacy we’ve inherited and the future we’re building.

We ask every member and friend of the Alki UCC community to prayerfully consider a sustainable financial pledge for the coming year and years to come. Your support ensures that our ministries, worship, outreach and ministry programs continue to grow and thrive under Pastor Emily's leadership.

Our church has been a beacon of hope and love for over 100 years, and with your help, it will continue to be that beacon for generations to come in this Alki community of West Seattle.

Let’s keep moving toward the future we dreamed of!

Let’s Do This…Together!
